Cal Raleigh Leads Mariners with Home Runs and New Bat

SEATTLE, Wash. — Through 30 games, Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh has emerged as one of the most productive hitters in baseball, boasting 10 home runs as of Friday, which ties him for the league lead. This performance follows his career-high of 34 home runs last season.
Raleigh, 28, signed a six-year contract before the season, justifying the Mariners’ $105 million investment early on. He also has 18 RBIs and four stolen bases to his name.
He has adopted a unique style known as the “torpedo bat,” using it from the left side since April 11. In a recent series against the Texas Rangers, Raleigh homered in all three games. He continued his power surge with three home runs against the Cincinnati Reds, totaling six home runs in his last six games.
Dimers.com, a sports gambling analysis site, shared data with Mariners about the impact of the torpedo bat on Raleigh’s performance. Although the sample size is small, there’s a noticeable increase in the frequency and intensity of his hits this season.
“Some of this can be attributed to the bat, while other factors include his physical strength and a new approach with hitting coaches Kevin Seitzer and Edgar Martinez,” said a team insider.
The Mariners currently stand at 18-12 and are in first place in the American League West. They are set to face off against the Texas Rangers at 5:05 p.m. PT.
As Raleigh shifts his focus on performance, fans are eager to see if he will start using the bat from the right side in the coming games.
