DENVER, Colorado — Nuggets forward Cameron Johnson is beginning to find his place with the team after a challenging start to the season. Following a strong performance in Denver‘s 117-100 victory against Indiana on November 3, Johnson expressed hope that he can overcome his self-doubt.

“Nine games into this season, what have I analyzed? First of all, we’re 7-2. There are two games we should’ve won that we lost,” Johnson said on Saturday. “We’re three seconds away from being 9-0. You’ve got to let the rest go, and figure it out.”

Following the Nuggets’ trade of Michael Porter Jr. to Brooklyn, Johnson struggled initially, averaging 7.5 points with a shooting percentage of just 36 percent from the field in his first eight games. Johnson acknowledged he was affected by the slow start. “It’s not easy. That’s human nature,” he said. “I signed up for this as a shooter in the NBA. My job is to continue to believe in myself.”

During the match against Indiana, Johnson found his rhythm after a hesitant start, driving to the basket with newfound aggression in the second half. He finished with 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting. “Attack the rim, see where the bigs are at, and get them to react,” Johnson noted about his approach to the game.

Coach David Adelman praised Johnson’s potential, indicating that patience is essential for his development. “With NBA guys, you’ve got to be patient. What he’s got to understand is: Are you going up, or are you going down? He’s been going up,” Adelman said.

As Johnson continues to find his footing, teammate Tim Hardaway Jr., a new addition to the Nuggets, is expected to play a significant role alongside star Nikola Jokic, providing a valuable asset to the team as they aim for the NBA championship.
