Canelo Alvarez Vs Terence Crawford Boxing Match

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Boxing superstars Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford are finalizing a deal for a Sept. 13 super middleweight championship fight in Las Vegas, sources confirmed to ESPN. The highly anticipated bout, organized by Saudi Arabia‘s General Entertainment Authority chairman Turki Alalshikh, could define the legacies of two of the sport’s most accomplished fighters.

Crawford, 37, will move up two weight classes to challenge Alvarez at the 168-pound limit. The Omaha, Nebraska native, who is ESPN’s No. 2 pound-for-pound boxer, recently won a title at 154 pounds against Israil Madrimov in August. Alvarez, 34, currently holds the WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight titles and is ESPN’s No. 5 pound-for-pound fighter.

“There won’t be any catchweight or rehydration clause attached to the fight,” sources told ESPN. Both fighters are four-division champions and future Hall of Famers, making this one of the most significant matchups in recent boxing history.

Before facing Crawford, Alvarez is expected to defend his titles on Cinco De Mayo weekend against William Scull, who holds the title stripped from Alvarez last year. A victory would restore Alvarez’s status as undisputed champion.

Crawford, who remains undefeated with a 41-0 record, last fought in July 2023, securing a ninth-round TKO victory over Errol Spence Jr. to claim the undisputed welterweight championship. Alvarez, with a record of 62-2-2, has won five consecutive fights since his loss to Dmitry Bivol in May 2022.

This fight marks Crawford’s first attempt at the super middleweight division, while Alvarez has dominated the weight class since 2019. The matchup is expected to draw global attention, with both fighters aiming to cement their legacies as all-time greats.
