Carlo Ancelotti Brazil Coach Announcement

MADRID, Spain — Italian Carlo Ancelotti will become Brazil‘s national soccer team coach after leaving Real Madrid at the end of the current season. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) made the announcement on Monday, confirming that Ancelotti’s official start date will be May 26, 2025.

Ancelotti, 65, will be the first foreign head coach of the Brazilian national team. He arrives with an impressive track record, having won five Champions League titles and multiple league championships across Europe, including at Real Madrid.

The CBF stated that Ancelotti’s appointment marks a significant milestone in Brazilian soccer as the country aims to reclaim its status as a leading force in the sport. “It is a statement to the world that we are determined to regain football’s top spot,” CBF President Ednaldo Rodrigues said.

Ancelotti’s departure from Real Madrid comes after a disappointing season where the club struggled in both domestic and European competitions. Following a recent 4-3 defeat to their rivals Barcelona, Madrid trails in the LaLiga title race.

<p“Mr. Ancelotti is a legend of the game and will officially take charge following the conclusion of the LaLiga season,” the CBF said in its statement.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid is reportedly finalizing plans to appoint former player Xabi Alonso as Ancelotti’s successor. Alonso, who managed Bayer Leverkusen, is expected to take over just in time for the Club World Cup.

Ancelotti’s signing comes during a turbulent time for the Brazilian national team, currently sitting fourth in the South American World Cup qualifying standings. With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, Ancelotti’s leadership is seen as crucial for Brazil to secure their place in the tournament.

The CBF expressed gratitude towards Real Madrid for the cooperation shown during this transition. Ancelotti’s experience is expected to play a significant role in nurturing the talents of Brazil’s star players and leading them towards World Cup glory.
