Carvajal Inspires Real Madrid to Supercopa de Espana Final
Real Madrid’s Dani Carvajal played a pivotal role in his team’s victory over Atleti in the semi-final of the Supercopa de Espana, scoring one goal, assisting another, and providing a crucial pass for the third, securing a thrilling 5-3 win in extra time.
Atleti started the scoring with a corner from Antoine Griezmann, which was converted by Mario Hermoso. However, Antonio Rudiger leveled the game with a header from a Luka Modric corner just ten minutes later.
It was then Carvajal’s turn to shine as he flicked Ferland Mendy’s cross into the net, giving Real Madrid the lead. But once again, Atleti responded, this time through Griezmann, who embarked on a skillful run before finding the back of the net.
The second half turned into a scrappier affair, with Atleti defending deep and inviting pressure from Madrid. They capitalized on a mistake from goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who punched a lofted cross into his own player, Alvaro Morata, resulting in an own goal.
Real Madrid, however, refused to be defeated. Carvajal stepped up once again and hammered in a rebound after a chaotic scramble in the Atletico box, drawing the game level. With neither team able to find a decisive goal in regular time, Carvajal’s teasing ball in extra time caused chaos, eventually deflecting off Stefan Savic and finding the back of the net for a stunning winner.
Brahim Diaz added a late goal into an open net as Atleti goalkeeper Jan Oblak joined the attack for a corner, sealing a spectacular victory for Real Madrid and securing their place in the Supercopa final.
