Celtics Achieve Historic 6-0 Road Trip with Win Over Grizzlies

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Boston Celtics capped off their first-ever 6-0 road trip with a commanding 117-103 victory against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night, solidifying their status as a formidable force as the NBA playoffs approach.
Despite missing All-Star forward Jaylen Brown, who sat out due to knee soreness, the Celtics managed to overcome an early 11-point deficit. Al Horford led the offensive charge, scoring a season-high 26 points off the bench, including six 3-pointers, matching his career-best. Jayson Tatum added 25 points and 14 rebounds, while Derrick White contributed with a double-double, rounding out a balanced scoring effort.
“Every guy stepped up tonight, and it was a true team victory,” Tatum said post-game. “We compete at a high level, and that’s what it’s going to take in the playoffs.”
Ja Morant topped the Grizzlies with 26 points, nearly rallying his team back in the fourth quarter by trimming Boston’s lead to single digits. However, the Celtics warded off the late momentum shift to secure their ninth consecutive victory.
This road trip has been historic for the Celtics, as they not only finished 6-0 but also extended their winning streak to a season-high nine games. Boston’s remarkable performance on the road this season has brought them within two wins of tying the record for the most road victories in a single NBA season, currently held by the Golden State Warriors at 34.
“I would venture to say that our guys are good everywhere. We have developed a strong road mentality this year,” Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla stated. “It’s all about playing consistent basketball.”
The Celtics’ road victories came with an average margin of 16.8 points, showcasing their dominance away from TD Garden. Additionally, the Celtics have won 14 of their last 15 games overall. At 32-7 on the road, they have matched the franchise record for road wins, achieved by teams in 1972-73 and 1974-75.
One noteworthy moment from the game included Xavier Tillman receiving a starting nod against his former team. Despite struggling with his shot, finishing 0-for-5 from beyond the arc, his teammates rallied around him. “We wanted to win this game for Xavier; he deserved it,” said Horford.
As playoff preparation intensifies, the Celtics must also address the health of their players, particularly Brown, who is currently on a minutes restriction due to his knee issue. “I’m just looking for ways to prepare myself every game,” Brown said. “I know it’s a challenge, but we need to ensure I’m ready for the postseason.”
With two road games remaining against the New York Knicks and Orlando Magic, Boston aims to continue its strong form while gearing up for the playoff challenges ahead.
