Celtics Blow Another Lead, Trail Knicks in Playoffs

BOSTON, MA — The Boston Celtics suffered a stunning defeat against the New York Knicks, blowing a 20-point lead for the second consecutive game, and now trail 2-0 in their Eastern Conference semifinal series.
During Game 2 at TD Garden on May 8, the reigning champions failed to secure their advantage, losing grip late in the match. This loss puts Boston in a critical position as they head to New York for Game 3 on Saturday.
The Celtics advanced past the Orlando Magic in the first round, winning in five games, but their performance against the Knicks has raised concerns. Boston’s roster has been plagued by injuries, impacting their gameplay significantly.
Star players Jrue Holiday, Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum, and Kristaps Porzingis are all battling health issues. Holiday is managing a hamstring strain, Brown has a knee issue, Tatum is nursing a wrist ailment, and Porzingis is dealing with a lingering illness.
Only one player, reserve forward Sam Hauser, appears on the official injury report going into Game 3. Hauser missed Game 2 after spraining his right ankle in the first game and is now doubtful to return.
Despite the setbacks, the Celtics had a better record on the road than at home during the regular season. Fans are hoping that the team can regain its shooting form and learn to maintain leads. If they can’t, they will face a daunting challenge in Game 4 at Madison Square Garden.
No team in NBA history has recovered from a 0-3 playoff deficit, putting additional pressure on the Celtics. Hauser’s lack of scoring in the playoffs has been troubling, averaging just 2.7 points through six games, while he performed significantly better during the regular season.
The Celtics are aware that their title defense is at stake, and they must turn things around quickly to avoid falling further behind in the series.
