Celtics Look to Build Momentum Against Clippers on Sunday
BOSTON, MA — The Boston Celtics will face the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at TD Garden. Third-year forward Jordan Walsh aims to continue his impressive season following a strong performance during the Celtics’ recent games.
Walsh made his first start of the season on Wednesday, contributing seven points, six rebounds, and two blocked shots in a decisive 131-95 victory over Memphis. In the last five games, the Celtics have outscored opponents by 70 points with Walsh on the floor.
“I mean, he’s athletic, but he works at it,” said Boston coach Joe Mazzulla. “He’s smart. I think part of guarding people at different positions is just knowing tendencies, knowing personnel.” Walsh is currently averaging 4.4 points and 4.0 rebounds in 15.4 minutes per game, after having limited playtime earlier in the season.
“Honestly, I just think he’s been more professional and maturing,” said teammate Payton Pritchard. “Now, he’s ready for the moment. Just stressing him to don’t take it for granted. Come hungry still every day and keep pushing.”
Both teams are seeking to improve their records as the Clippers come off a much-needed victory against Dallas, ending a six-game losing streak. James Harden led the team with a season-high 41 points in a 133-127 double-overtime win.
“Just continue to fight,” Harden said. “It hasn’t been going well for us, but we’re still going to be resilient.” The Clippers are hoping to capitalize on their recent success, but they will be without star players Kawhi Leonard and Bradley Beal for the game.
This matchup presents an opportunity for the Celtics to strengthen their standing as they enter the contest with a record of 6-7. They are currently favored by five points, with an over/under set at 220.5.
With both teams eager to prove themselves, the game promises to be an exciting contest. Fans can watch the action on NBC Sports Boston.
