Central Florida Braces for Rain Amid Warmer Midweek Forecast

ORLANDO, Florida — Central Florida residents are preparing for a rainy start to the week as a cool front moves through the area. The rain is expected to begin late tonight, with temperatures dropping into the upper 50s and lower 60s.
According to local meteorologists, showers will likely arrive in the region’s northwestern counties just after midnight, expanding to more widespread rainfall by morning. “It’s going to be a wet start to the workweek,” said Marquise, a meteorologist at a local weather station. “Expect the rain to persist through Monday, with generally mild temperatures.”
Highs on Monday are forecast to reach only the mid-60s due to the rain, marking a drop from the steady temperatures in the low 70s experienced over the weekend. This change comes after a sunny Sunday that saw temperatures peak in the mid-70s.
As the showers push through the area, Central Florida will see rumbles of thunder but no severe weather alerts have been issued. The National Weather Service indicates an 80% chance for rain on Monday, with some areas, particularly Polk and Osceola counties, potentially receiving over two inches of rain.
“As we continue across the workweek into Wednesday and Thursday, expect warmer temperatures and clearer skies. We are looking at highs reaching the upper 70s by midweek,” Marquise added.
After the rain diminishes on Tuesday, conditions are projected to improve significantly. Wednesday’s forecast indicates sunshine with temperatures soaring back into the mid-70s, while Thursday could see highs nearing 80 degrees.
Residents are encouraged to monitor weather updates closely, especially with the onset of rain expected during morning commutes. The gradual transition from rain to drier conditions later in the week is welcomed after a relatively cooler weekend.
Currently, Orlando is holding steady at 70 degrees, with an east coast breeze at 14 mph, creating slightly cooler evening temperatures. With this pattern, the community can anticipate a welcome change towards milder weather as the week progresses.
