EAST LANSING, Mich. – Championship week has commenced for the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) boys basketball season, with 32 teams poised to vie for victory in tonight’s Quarterfinals. Games are scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. unless noted otherwise.

Among the notable matchups, East Lansing (25-1) faces Ann Arbor Huron (21-4) at Mason in a rematch from last year’s Quarterfinal, where Huron emerged victorious. Senior guard Macari Moore leads the River Rats with an impressive average of 19 points per game and a shooting percentage of 59. Meanwhile, East Lansing’s offense is fueled by junior guard KJ Torbert, who averages 20.3 points per game, along with senior guard Cameron Hutson contributing 18.5 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.

In another Division 1 clash, Orchard Lake St. Mary’s (19-6) tackles Macomb L’Anse Creuse North (19-8) at the University of Detroit Mercy at 5:30 p.m. The reigning Division 1 champion Eaglets, led by senior wing Trey McKenney—honored with the Mr. Basketball Award—are back at full strength after navigating his absence earlier this season.

Detroit Martin Luther King (21-5) is set to go head-to-head with Wayne Memorial (23-3) at the University of Detroit Mercy. Wayne clinched a thrilling 72-70 win over Detroit U-D Jesuit in their Regional Final, with junior guard Carlos Medlock Jr. leading the team with 24.9 points and 4.8 assists per game.

Flint Carman-Ainsworth (21-5) is up against Byron Center (20-6) at DeWitt. Following a dramatic overtime victory against Rockford (64-60), the Cavaliers look to capitalize on the momentum, with seniors Donovan Hamlin and MarQuinn Weston II averaging 14.8 and 14.5 points, respectively.

In Division 2, Kingsford (21-3) faces off against Freeland (22-3) at Gaylord. Both teams feature standout shooters, with Kingsford’s Gavin Grondin averaging 24.3 points and Freeland’s Wilson Huckeby adding 20.2 points per game.

Lansing Sexton (19-5) squares off against Romulus Summit Academy North (22-3) in Jackson. Sexton junior guard Keyshawn Summerville will look to build on his explosive performance from last week, while Summit seeks a second trip to Breslin in three seasons.

In the Division 3 bracket, Ishpeming Westwood (21-5) takes on McBain (23-2) in Boyne City. McBain is fueled by a strong performance from sophomore Clayton Heuker, who averages 19.7 points, while Westwood’s Ethan Marta leads his team with 27 points per game.

Additionally, the Division 4 schedule features Crystal Falls Forest Park (24-2) against Pickford (23-2) at Gladstone. Leading the way for Forest Park are the Giuliani brothers, with sophomore Vic Giuliani averaging 22 points per game.
