Chennai Super Kings Sign Dewald Brevis Amid Struggles in IPL 2025

CHENNAI, India — In a crucial move, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have signed South African cricket talent Dewald Brevis as a replacement for injured player Gurjapneet Singh, the franchise announced on April 18, 2025. This decision comes as CSK struggles at the bottom of the IPL 2025 points table, with only four points from seven matches.

Brevis, 21, known as ‘Baby AB’ for his striking resemblance to AB de Villiers, joins CSK for a reported fee of ₹2.2 crore. Before this signing, he played for Mumbai Indians (MI) and participated in leagues around the world, including the SA20.
