Chicago Blackhawks Unveil Black Jerseys for Centennial Celebration
CHICAGO, Ill. — The Chicago Blackhawks today unveiled their legendary black jerseys as part of their Centennial celebration, set to debut on Black Friday. The team will wear the jersey seven times during the 2025-26 NHL season.
The new alternate home sweater, which amplifies the franchise’s iconic visual identity, will be first showcased on Nov. 28 against the Nashville Predators and again on Nov. 30 versus the Anaheim Ducks. Fans are encouraged to wear all black apparel for these special ‘Blackout’ games at the United Center.
“The long-awaited black alternate jersey returns this season as we celebrate 100 years of Blackhawks hockey,” said Blackhawks Chairman and CEO Danny Wirtz. “These jerseys defined an era and became a symbol of the grit, strength, commitment and legacy that holds true to today’s Blackhawks hockey.”
Originally worn from the 1996-97 to 2008-09 seasons, the jerseys were sported by famous players like Tony Amonte, Chris Chelios, Eric Daze, and Denis Savard. They became a visual icon in the NHL, bridging the franchise’s rich heritage and a new era of hockey.
Jaime Faulkner, President of Business Operations, emphasized the jersey’s significance, stating, “We’re not just revisiting our past. We’re reactivating one of hockey’s most striking visual statements. Our fans have been asking for this moment, and we couldn’t wait to give this back to them.”
The alternate jerseys will be worn for seven total games throughout the season, including home games in the upcoming Friday Night Hockey series, presented by Modelo. Fans can purchase the special edition jersey at Blackhawks Stores or online at CBHShop.com, although shipping times may affect delivery for the Blackout games.
