CHICAGO, March 21, 2025 — Dan Bernstein, a longtime host at 670 The Score, has parted ways with the Chicago sports radio station following a controversial exchange on social media.

The decision, announced by Mitch Rosen, vice president and brand manager of 670 The Score, was made public during the midday show on Friday. Rosen conveyed the news to listeners saying, “We are announcing today that Dan Bernstein no longer works at The Score. We wish him nothing but the best, and thank him for his time and service. Thank you.”

Bernstein’s departure comes after a fallout stemming from a post he made on X, where he shared a photo of a large fish he caught, referring to it as “a helluva fight.” A follower accused him of killing a pregnant northern pike, which led to a heated exchange between the two on social media.

In the verbal altercation, Bernstein allegedly threatened the follower with physical confrontation and hinted at doxxing the individual, revealing he possessed personal information. This incident resulted in further repercussions, including his removal from the board of Camp One Step, a charity focused on providing camp experiences for children battling cancer.

The station reported earlier in the week that Bernstein would not be on-air for the rest of the week due to unspecified reasons. His co-host Marshall Harris began Monday’s show by stating that Bernstein was off without mentioning the uproar on social media. This lack of immediate public acknowledgment regarding the incident has drawn some criticism.

Previously, Bernstein had garnered attention for controversial interactions with fellow radio and sports media figures, including Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy. In those encounters, Bernstein expressed discontent over his peers referring to him by his last name, which escalated into disputes aired on social media.

Bernstein had a longstanding career with 670 The Score, first joining the station in 1995. He hosted various time slots over the years, including a nearly two-decade collaboration with Terry Boers in the afternoon drive, before transitioning to mid mornings with co-host Laurence Holmes and subsequently Marshall Harris.

As of now, The Score and its parent company Audacy have not addressed the full circumstances surrounding Bernstein’s departure, leading to speculation among listeners about the future of the station’s programming.

This is a developing story, and more information will be provided as it becomes available.
