KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) – Chris Conley, former wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs, has announced his retirement from the NFL after 10 seasons. The news was shared on Instagram Saturday morning, where Conley expressed it was time to set his sights on something new.

Conley, who was drafted in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft from the University of Georgia, mentioned a lifelong goal of playing a decade in the NFL. “When I was a kid, I wrote down a set of goals. On that list was ‘Play 10 years in the NFL,’” he wrote. “Now that this goal has been accomplished, it’s time to set sights on something new. The past 10 years have been a dream.”

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Conley plans to enroll back at Georgia to attend film school, a dream he has wanted to pursue for years. His agent, Jonathan Perzley, confirmed the news.

During his NFL career, Conley was known for his impressive athleticism. He made a splash at the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine with a 45-inch vertical jump and a 4.35-second 40-yard dash, earning the respect of scouts and fans alike.

In the 2024 season, Conley played for the San Francisco 49ers. He recorded six receptions for 76 yards over 15 games, contributing as a depth receiver. Throughout his career, Conley played 132 games, with 226 receptions for 2,998 yards and 15 touchdowns.

One of the memorable highlights of Conley’s career was catching the first touchdown thrown by Patrick Mahomes at Arrowhead Stadium during the 2018 season. The 5-yard touchdown pass was a moment that solidified his connection to the franchise.

In 2023, Conley competed against Mahomes in Super Bowl LVIII, a game in which the 49ers faced the Chiefs in Las Vegas.
