Christian Watson Expected to Return for Packers’ Playoff Matchup Against Cowboys
The Green Bay Packers are set to receive a major boost as wide receiver Christian Watson is expected to make his return from injury in their playoff matchup against the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC Wild Card Round.
Watson, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury for the past five games, practiced in a limited capacity throughout the week and is listed as questionable. However, there is optimism within the Packers organization that he will be able to play on Sunday at AT&T Stadium.
The team plans to put Watson through a pre-game workout to evaluate the strength of his hamstring and make a final decision on his availability.
Head coach Matt LaFleur expressed confidence in Watson’s progress, stating that he is further along in his recovery compared to the previous week. Watson returned to practice last week but was held out of the Packers’ playoff-clinching victory against the Chicago Bears due to concerns regarding his hamstring.
If Watson is cleared to play, he could provide a significant spark for the Packers’ offense. He had a touchdown catch in three consecutive games before his injury, including a standout performance against the Cowboys last season at Lambeau Field where he recorded three touchdown receptions.
The Packers’ receiving corps is otherwise in good shape, with Romeo Doubs and Jayden Reed also expected to play against the Cowboys. Additional options at the position include Dontayvion Wicks, Bo Melton, and Malik Heath.
The game between the Green Bay Packers (9-8) and the Dallas Cowboys (12-5) will take place at 3:25 p.m. CT on Sunday. The Cowboys have maintained a perfect home record this season and possess a potent offense, making Christian Watson’s return even more crucial for the Packers’ defensive efforts.
