Christy Carlson Romano Opens Up After Shooting Incident

AUSTIN, Texas – Actress and podcast host Christy Carlson Romano shared an emotional update with her followers on social media Thursday, stating that her life has been profoundly altered after a shooting incident earlier this month.
“It’s been 3 weeks since I got shot in the face, and my life has changed profoundly,” Romano, 40, posted on Instagram. “I am feeling more grateful than I’ve ever felt in my life and I’m healing really well.” She emphasized the importance of each day, stating, “Every day, to me, is a gift.”
Romano disclosed that she was celebrating her husband’s birthday at a clay pigeon shooting range on Feb. 7, 2015, when a shot from another party “unsafely fired in the wrong direction” struck her. “I was hit in 5 places, one was less than an inch from hitting me directly in my right eye,” she revealed.
Following the incident, her husband rushed her to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center, where doctors worked to clean the wounds. “There’s one piece that’s really close to my eye, and it’s only 1mm from my pupil,” she explained. Ultimately, her medical team opted not to remove the fragment near her eye, citing the potential risk to her recovery.
Romano is now focusing on her healing process and has found that the experience has shifted her perspective regarding sharing her life with her followers. “I just don’t care” about being judged, she said, encouraging others to embrace their passions. She feels liberated to share more about her “hobbies, passions, comedy, family,” and other interests that bring her joy.
Best known for her roles in “Even Stevens” and as the voice of Kim Possible, Romano is also a contestant on “Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test” and has hosted several podcasts.
TAMPA, Fla. – Meanwhile, the teaser trailer for “Shrek 5” has ignited a debate among fans on social media, with many expressing dissatisfaction over the redesign of beloved characters. The trailer reveals older versions of Shrek, Fiona, their daughter Felicia, Donkey, and Pinocchio.
On X, numerous fans criticized DreamWorks Animation for the redesign, stating that the studio has “ruined the characters.”
Some fans are calling on DreamWorks to revert the characters to their original designs, drawing parallels between this situation and the backlash faced by Paramount over its earlier film designs.
However, many social media users defended the changes, describing them as “inevitable” due to advancements in animation technology since the original “Shrek” movie was released in 2001.
“Shrek 5” will bring back Mike Myers as Shrek, Cameron Diaz as Fiona, and Eddie Murphy as Donkey. Zendaya joins the ensemble cast as the voice of Felicia, the daughter of Shrek and Fiona. The film is slated to hit theaters on Christmas 2026.
