Classic Comedy Charley’s Aunt Delights Audiences at Tea Tree Players Theatre
The Tea Tree Players Theatre recently showcased the timeless classic play, Charley’s Aunt, to the delight of audiences. Written by Brandon Thomas in 1892, this adaptation by Director Barry Hill brought Victorian-era comedy back to life in a stylish and humorous production.
In collaboration with Jo Allenby and The Monday Club, the costumes for Charley’s Aunt were a standout feature of the show. The attention to detail, from the elegant ladies’ dresses to the coordinated accessories, added an authentic touch to the period setting.
Kyle McCarthy and Callum Logan portrayed the young gentlemen Jack Chesney and Charley Wykeham with charm and comedic timing, setting the stage for the farcical events that unravel.
Kieran Drost’s portrayal of Lord Fancourt Babberly, the ‘aunt’ in question, was masterful and provided a highlight performance with his dual persona on stage.
Natasha Woods, Veronika Wlodarczyk, Kate Reardon, and Georgia Gustard added depth to the ensemble cast with their well-tuned performances, bringing the characters of Kitty Verdun, Amy Spettigue, Donna-Lucia D’Alvadorez, and Ela Delahay to life.
Tom Moore, Neil Feakin, and Justin Stone rounded out the talented cast, each contributing to the seamless execution of this classic comedy on stage.
