Clay County Fair Opens with New Features, Safety Measures

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — The 39th annual Clay County Agricultural Fair is officially open today, April 3, 2025, promising excitement, entertainment, and delicious fair food for attendees. With the fair expected to draw nearly 200,000 visitors over its 11-day run, officials are emphasizing the importance of staying hydrated and safe.
This year, fairgoers will have access to new amenities, including large tents equipped with fans and air conditioning cooling stations in the EZone, in response to the warm weather forecast. Water bottle stations are available at each brick restroom throughout the fairgrounds. The fair has served as a staple in the community since 1987, providing both fun and educational experiences.
Admission fees are set at $10 for adults, $6 for seniors and children ages 6-12, with free entry for those under five years old. Special promotions are available on select days, such as $5 admission for health professionals and discounts for families and seniors on designated days. Ride armbands cost $20 and are not valid on Saturdays.
“This is the great fair,” said business owner Daniel Jolley, who has participated in the Clay County Fair for four years. “The energy is a really big deal, and it keeps growing each year.”
Security is heightened as Sheriff Michelle Cook urges fairgoers to remain vigilant. With tens of thousands expected to attend daily, Cook stated, “We are going to have zero tolerance for any shenanigans.” Increased security measures include both uniformed and undercover sheriff’s personnel monitoring the event.
The fair’s schedule includes various themed days and activities. April 4 marks Fiesta Family Friday, and on April 6, Clay Health Day will provide discounted admission for health professionals. “The whole atmosphere makes me love the fair,” said Lynn Peaslee, a guest services volunteer with 15 years of experience. “I might not like fair food, but I keep coming back for the fun.”
Clay County will also provide free parking at designated areas surrounding the fairgrounds, which are managed with the assistance of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. Fairgoers should be aware that capacity levels will be enforced, and parking will not be allowed on State Road 16.
“We are bringing about 170,000 people into these fairgrounds over the 11 days using just a two-lane road,” said Cook. Fair officials have implemented traffic control measures and recommend using alternate routes to avoid congestion on busy days.
This year’s fair will bring a variety of attractions, including live performances from artists such as Clint Black and Ricky Skaggs, thrilling rides, and traditional fair activities. “We want everyone to enjoy themselves, but we must prioritize safety,” said Cook.
The 2025 Clay County Agricultural Fair runs from April 3 to April 13. For more information about ticket prices, daily schedules, and safety measures, fairgoers can visit the official website or download the SaferWatch app to report any concerns during the event.
