LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Colin Cowherd, the prominent Fox Sports commentator and host of the popular talk show ‘The Herd,’ announced this week that he is relocating his show from Los Angeles to Chicago this spring. The move, revealed during a conversation with Fox colleague Nick Wright, marks a significant shift for the 61-year-old broadcaster, who has spent the past decade in LA.

‘You know I’m moving to Chicago in the spring,’ Cowherd told Wright. ‘It’s official. I’ve bought a house.’ Cowherd explained that the decision was driven by a desire to be closer to his wife Ann‘s family, particularly her sister, who resides in the area. ‘My wife has given a lot to my career and sacrifice,’ he said. ‘I love the city, she’s got her sister there, I’ve got a lot of friends there… and I think it’s just time to be a better guy, be a better husband.’

Cowherd, who has been with Fox Sports since 2016, will broadcast ‘The Herd’ from the Big Ten Network studios near the Chicago River. He plans to spend approximately 85% of his time in Illinois, with occasional returns to Los Angeles during the football season. The move aligns with Fox Sports’ strategic interests, as the network is a majority owner of the Big Ten Network, making the transition logistically seamless.

The relocation also reflects Cowherd’s personal and professional evolution. ‘I’ve bounced all over the country, and there’s some advantages and disadvantages to it,’ he said. ‘But I’m so excited to live in the Midwest, to live in a great city next to cousins. I’m fired up, and my son wants to go to Northwestern here in a couple years maybe.’

In addition to his role at Fox Sports, Cowherd will continue to oversee his independent media company, The Volume, which boasts a portfolio of popular podcasts, including ‘The Draymond Green Show’ and Shannon Sharpe‘s ‘Club Shay Shay.’ Last year, Cowherd claimed The Volume is now valued at over $100 million.

The announcement comes amid a period of professional stability for Cowherd, who recently signed a new contract with Fox Sports. The network has built much of its daytime programming around ‘The Herd,’ which competes directly with ESPN‘s ‘The Pat McAfee Show.’ Cowherd’s move to Chicago is expected to bolster his connection with Midwest audiences while maintaining his national appeal.

Cowherd’s decision also highlights his commitment to balancing career and family. ‘I always said I think it’s an advantage as a broadcaster,’ he noted. ‘I think it gives me a sense of every region.’ With this move, Cowherd adds the Midwest to the list of regions he has called home during his storied career.
