The 2024-25 college football season marks a significant change with the introduction of a 12-team playoff format, replacing the previous four-team format. Here is a detailed look at the schedule and current bracket based on the latest committee rankings.

The first round of the playoffs will be held on December 20 and 21, with games played at campus sites. The matchups are determined by the current committee rankings, with the four highest-ranked conference champions receiving byes into the quarterfinals. The current bracket includes:

– (12 seed) BYU at (5) Ohio State

– (11) Georgia at (6) Penn State

– (10) Ole Miss at (7) Indiana

– (9) Alabama at (8) Notre Dame

The quarterfinal games, scheduled for December 31 and January 1, will be played at the Fiesta Bowl, Rose Bowl, Peach Bowl, and Sugar Bowl. These games will feature the winners of the first-round matchups against the top four seeds: Oregon, Texas, Miami (Fla.), and Boise State.

The semifinals will take place on January 9 and 10 at the Orange Bowl and Cotton Bowl, respectively. The winners of these games will advance to the CFP National Championship Game, which is set for January 20, 2025, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

It is important to note that there will be no re-seeding once the official bracket is revealed on Sunday, December 8. The assignment of the quarterfinal games to specific bowls will consider historic bowl relationships as well as seeding.
