Comcast Expansion High Speed Internet Hagerstown Maryland

HAGERSTOWN, Md. — Comcast has unveiled an ambitious expansion plan that aims to bring high-speed, symmetrical internet to over 50,000 homes and businesses in the Hagerstown area. This initiative represents a significant move towards closing the digital divide in the region.

The expansion will provide Xfinity and Comcast Business services, introducing internet, mobile, entertainment, and security solutions for the first time across Hagerstown and neighboring communities such as Cavetown, Fairplay, Funkstown, Smithsburg, Tilghmanton, and Williamsport.

Comcast’s state-of-the-art network infrastructure will deliver reliable and fast connectivity, catering to the increasing demands of modern households and enterprises. Hagerstown Mayor William “Bill” McIntire welcomed the project, commenting, “Fast, reliable internet is critical to our region’s ability to attract businesses and meet residents’ ever-expanding technological needs.”

“We are thrilled to have a new provider offering advanced connectivity solutions and applaud Comcast for this significant investment,” McIntire added.

Ray Roundtree, Senior Vice President of Comcast’s Beltway Region, expressed similar sentiments, highlighting the company’s dedication to enhancing connectivity in the community. “We’re proud to expand our reliable, secure, and peak-performance network to more than 50,000 homes and businesses across the Hagerstown area—bringing choice for high-speed internet, business solutions, entertainment, and more,” Roundtree stated.

The rollout is already in progress, with thousands of addresses gaining immediate access to Xfinity and Comcast Business services. Residents can check service availability and construction timelines by visiting Xfinity.com/mytown and inputting their address.

Comcast plans not only to enhance infrastructure but also to support the Hagerstown community through initiatives aimed at improving economic mobility and digital equity. The company recently promoted its Internet Essentials program, which offers low-cost, high-speed internet and affordable computers to eligible households.

Further demonstrating its commitment, Comcast announced a $40,000 donation to Horizon Goodwill Industries and the Boys & Girls Club of Washington County. The funds will help support digital skills training, career development programs, and efforts to promote internet adoption in the area.

This development offers more than just improved internet; it provides a pathway to economic growth and opportunity for Hagerstown. With robust Comcast Business solutions available to businesses and Xfinity’s entertainment options for residents, the region is positioned for advancement in an increasingly connected environment.

Comcast’s investment not only builds infrastructure but also aims to elevate the communities it serves, showcasing a model for how private companies can contribute to the public good.
