Las Vegas, NV – Connor Matthews is gearing up for his fight at UFC Vegas 106, which comes just 22 days after receiving the call to compete. The fighter, who has experienced setbacks in previous bouts, is prepared to take on any challenge that comes his way.

“I got the notice like 22 days out from the fight. It was a Thursday, I think,” said Matthews. He explained that although he expected more time to prepare, he felt obligated to accept the fight. “When the boss calls, you got to answer.” Matthews emphasized the importance of being ready at all times as a professional fighter.

Despite the short training window, Matthews expressed confidence in his readiness for the match. “I’m feeling healthy and feeling ready. Three weeks is definitely enough time for me to make weight,” he said. He acknowledged the challenges that come with a short camp but believes it can have some advantages as well.

Matthews will face Matheus Camilo, a newcomer to the UFC, who is also looking to make a name for himself. In assessing Camilo, Matthews pointed out that his opponent tends to struggle against opponents with strong records. “He’s not a big finisher. I feel like he gases out a little bit,” he noted, explaining his strategy for the fight.

He continued, “I feel comfortable on my feet, and I feel like he’s gonna gas. I’m just gonna bring it to him.” Matthews is optimistic about his chances and is looking to capitalize on any opportunities that arise during the match. Fans can catch Matthews and Camilo’s fight on the ESPN+ prelims, starting at 4 PM EST.
