Controversial Businessman Edwin Sodi’s Lavish Mansion in Morningside Up For Sale at R75 Million
Controversial businessman Edwin Sodi‘s luxurious mansion located in Morningside, Johannesburg is now on the market, with an asking price that stands at a staggering R75 million.
The stunning 5-bedroom en-suite residence, spanning 4000 square meters, radiates elegance and opulence, showcasing uncompromised luxury and exclusivity, with top-notch finishes and a contemporary design that embraces generous space and natural light.
Sodi, the Chief Executive Officer of Blackhead Consulting, reportedly acquired this magnificent property in 2014 for R40 million, later investing in significant upgrades and renovations.
Featuring a grand double-volume entrance hall with a striking feature wall, glass doors, a floating staircase, and a marble fireplace, Sodi’s home also boasts extravagant amenities such as a 20-seater fire pit, outdoor cinema, built-in bar with a cigar lounge, a spacious family room, gym, walk-in closet, jacuzzi, and a pool with a deck. The residence includes a separate double-story wing and a guest suite.
In a recent event hosted by Sodi at his architecturally remarkable mansion, the luxury and grandeur of the property were on full display, drawing headlines and public attention.
Following this event, the Special Investigating Unit (SIU) disclosed that it is investigating a substantial water project that was awarded to Sodi’s companies, namely NJR Projects and Blackhead Consulting, along with CMS Engineering in 2019. This project, the Rooiwal wastewater treatment endeavor, cost the Tshwane municipality a staggering R295 million.
Authorized by President Cyril Ramaphosa, the SIU’s probe aims to scrutinize allegations of maladministration and corruption, while also looking into any instances of irregular, unauthorized, or wasteful expenditure by the Tshwane metropolitan municipality or the state.
