Cory Booker Joins Bob Casey in Final Election Push in Pennsylvania
On the eve of the 2024 U.S. presidential election, New Jersey Senator Cory Booker joined forces with Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey in a final push to rally voters in the crucial state of Pennsylvania. The event took place at a packed firehouse in Bucks County, a suburb of Philadelphia, where both senators emphasized the importance of the upcoming election.
Senator Casey, who is facing a challenge from Republican David McCormick, highlighted the significance of Bucks County in the election. “When you look at some of the numbers in the last couple of election cycles, the percent of the vote that a candidate gets in this county is very close to what they get statewide. So, no pressure,” Casey said, addressing the crowd.
Senator Booker praised his colleague, Bob Casey, for his dedication and character in the Senate. “If there is anybody in the United States Senate that lives this ideal of my granddad’s, to love so hard that generations yet unborn will feel the impact of your life. It’s Bob Casey,” Booker said. He also emphasized Casey’s role as a champion for issues affecting the nation’s children and his steady leadership in the Senate.
The rally also featured other local political figures, including Bucks County Commissioner Bob Harvie, state Sen. Steve Santarsiero, and congressional candidate Ashley Ehasz. Ehasz, who is running against U.S. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, criticized her opponent and linked him to broader Republican policies, saying, “And let’s just be clear, Brian Fitzpatrick and Donald Trump are clear and present danger to our fundamental freedoms. Throw the name McCormick in there too,” Ehasz said.
Casey’s closing message focused on the contrast between himself and his opponent on key issues such as abortion rights and workers’ rights. He highlighted his record of delivering for the people of Pennsylvania and criticized McCormick’s background as a hedge fund CEO who invested in adversaries like China.
Booker underscored the importance of maintaining a Democratic majority in the Senate to advance the party’s agenda, including enshrining abortion rights and making crucial government appointments. He noted that the Senate’s role is critical, even in the context of a presidential election, as it can block key appointments, such as those to the Supreme Court.
