Costa Rica, Bahamas Face Off in World Cup Qualifier Clash

Wildey, Barbados — On June 8, Bahamas will host Costa Rica for a World Cup qualifying match at BFA Wildey Turf. This CONCACAF clash will determine the fate of the two teams in Group B.
Bahamas is coming into this match already out of the tournament after losing all three of their previous games. They aimed to make history by qualifying for their first-ever World Cup but saw their hopes dashed as they ended without a point. Their recent performances include a staggering 7-1 loss to Trinidad and Tobago, a tight 1-0 defeat to Saint Kitts and Nevis, and a heavy 6-0 defeat against Grenada.
Despite their inability to qualify, the Bahamians will strive to avoid a completely winless campaign. They currently sit at the bottom of Group B and will be looking to put up a fight against a formidable Costa Rica team.
Costa Rica, on the other hand, is performing well in their qualifying rounds, currently leading the group with two wins from their first two matches. They achieved impressive victories against Saint Kitts and Nevis (4-0) and Grenada (3-0). However, they face a managerial change, as Gustavo Alfaro stepped down after those wins, and the new manager, who took over in early 2025, is still finding his footing with mixed results.
For the upcoming match, Costa Rica is optimistic about securing a win. They need just three points from this game to affirm their position in the top two and ensure progression to the next round.
Bahamas will be without key midfielder Tyler Forbes, who was injured in the last match. They may rely on Kevin Thomas, Lance Carroll, and others to fill the gap in the midfield.
Costa Rica has also had injury concerns but expects to field a strong lineup featuring reliable players like goalkeeper Keylor Navas and defender Francisco Calvo. Both teams are ready to give everything they have on the pitch as they prepare for a decisive matchup.
As the stakes rise for both sides, fans are eager to see if Bahamas can salvage their pride or if Costa Rica will continue their winning streak.
