Cowboys Eyeing Potential Wide Receiver Trades After Draft

IRVING, Texas — NFL teams are always searching for ways to improve their rosters, and the Dallas Cowboys are no exception. Even after the 2025 draft and free agency, the Cowboys continue to evaluate potential trade and cut candidates across the league.
One player who may be on the Cowboys’ radar is Ja'Lynn Polk, a second-year receiver from the New England Patriots. Polk, a second-round pick in 2024, had a disappointing rookie season and now finds himself in a challenging position with a new coaching staff. The Patriots recently added wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Kyle Williams, creating a crowded depth chart that could make Polk expendable.
Dane Brugler, an NFL draft analyst, noted that Polk has the potential to be a starting player but must improve as a route runner. “He is a natural athlete with Pro-level toughness,” Brugler wrote.
Another receiver worth considering is Javon Baker, also a second-year player from the Patriots. Baker, selected in the fourth round of the 2024 draft, has faced scrutiny for his inconsistent performances. Brugler describes him as an athlete with ball-tracking abilities but warns of question marks in his game.
Meanwhile, Jalen McMillan‘s status with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could also be uncertain after the team drafted Emeka Egbuka and Tez Johnson. McMillan had a solid rookie season, recording 37 catches for 461 yards and eight touchdowns, but may now be at risk due to newcomers who share similar skill sets.
Brugler assesses McMillan as a pass catcher with three-level potential, comparing his style to that of Jakobi Meyers. While McMillan primarily plays as a slot receiver, he could still provide valuable depth to the Cowboys’ offensive lineup.
The Cowboys appear poised to explore roster options as they continue to enhance their wide receiver corps following their draft decisions.
