Pete Crow Armstrong Cubs Brewers Playoff

MILWAUKEE — The Chicago Cubs are on the brink of elimination after falling behind 2-0 to the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Division Series. The Cubs aim to turn the tide on Wednesday at Wrigley Field.

In a tense Game 2, the Cubs managed a 3-0 lead early but ultimately lost 7-3. Emotional moments were highlighted as Pete Crow-Armstrong was seen expressing frustration in the dugout following the loss.

Crow-Armstrong, just 23, was central to the Cubs’ success this season. With an MVP-caliber first half, he helped propel the Cubs to first place in the NL Central, earning team president Jed Hoyer a contract extension. Crow-Armstrong’s stellar defense in center field has been crucial for a pitching staff facing challenges.

Despite a strong start in the postseason, Crow-Armstrong’s performance has dipped with 10 strikeouts and only four hits in 18 at-bats. “It’s just our job to execute,” said Crow-Armstrong. “I know I haven’t done that.”

The Brewers, looking to advance to the NL Championship Series with just one more win, capitalized on Cubs’ mistakes while demonstrating their offensive prowess with three home runs in Game 2.

Cubs manager Craig Counsell emphasized the need for his team to apply consistent pressure in batting. “There is a need to be more tenacious with the at-bats,” Counsell said. “We have to string at-bats together.”

Crow-Armstrong has been working closely with veteran Justin Turner, who is guiding him through the pressures of the playoffs. Turner is helping to channel Crow-Armstrong’s emotions positively. “He’s got so much talent,” Turner said. “We just need to keep him moving in the right direction.”

As the Cubs prepare for their crucial Game 3, the focus remains on overcoming the Brewers’ dominance and finding the right offensive rhythm. “We have to find a way to put up a few more runs,” said Ian Happ. “Hanging up a few crooked numbers will help a lot.”
