Chicago Cubs Offense 2025 Season

CHICAGO — The Chicago Cubs have dominated the first quarter of the 2025 MLB season with the best offense in baseball, scoring an impressive 324 runs. Led by standout performances, the Cubs have established themselves as serious World Series contenders.

Despite their offensive power, the team faces a significant issue at third base. Cubs players at this position have compiled a collective batting average of just .208, making it the weakest link in their lineup.

The organization hopes to address this gap thanks to the recent performance of promising young player Shaw, who has returned from a stint in Triple-A. Originally making the Opening Day roster, Shaw struggled with a .172 batting average before being sent down to work on his swing.

Shaw has expressed gratitude for the demotion, calling it “the best thing that could have happened” to him. “There’s not time for young guys to struggle when we want to win, so it was exactly what I needed,” he explained. “I felt like I needed it, even at the time. As unfortunate as it was, it felt like something that I needed. It was just part of the journey and, yeah, I’ve stayed confident.”

His reset appears successful; Shaw credits his time in Triple-A for giving him valuable perspective on the game. “It also gave me some time to work on things, all of which I needed,” he added. “Hopefully I can take what I’ve learned from the minor leagues and continue to grow into a better hitter.”

The Cubs lead the National League Central with a 33-21 record. They rate at the top of several offensive metrics, including runs scored, hits, and RBIs, and are on track to potentially break historical scoring records.

According to ESPN’s Paul Hembekides, the Cubs are averaging six runs per game. If they maintain this pace, they would be the first team since the 2000 Chicago White Sox to achieve this feat. The stakes are high for Chicago as they look to cement their standing in the league.

As they continue to build on their strengths and address weaknesses, the Cubs are poised to be a formidable opponent this season.
