FA Cup Quarter-Final Draw Scheduled After Sunday Match

MANCHESTER, England — The draw for the Emirates FA Cup quarter-finals will take place on Sunday, March 2, 2025, following the fifth-round match between Manchester United and Fulham at Old Trafford. The draw is expected to begin at approximately 7:30 p.m. GMT, shortly after the kickoff of the match at 4:30 p.m. GMT.
Sixteen teams remain in this year’s tournament, with some notable Premier League clubs already eliminated, including Liverpool and Arsenal. They were both knocked out in previous rounds, making the path clearer for competing clubs like Newcastle, Bournemouth, and Brighton, who are all vying for a spot in the last eight.
“Every team still in the competition has a strong chance, especially after seeing the upsets in previous rounds,” said FA Cup commentator Colin Smith. “The draw adds to the excitement, and it’s always unpredictable.”
This weekend features eight ties, extending from Friday, February 28, through Monday, March 3. On Friday night, Aston Villa overcame Cardiff City with a score of 2-0 to book their advancement. Saturday brings more action, beginning with Crystal Palace facing Millwall and Preston North End taking on Burnley.
Notably, Championship side Plymouth Argyle has already made waves by defeating Liverpool in the last round and is now up against Manchester City. Their historic run has captured the attention of football fans across the UK.
“We aim to play with the same spirit and confidence as we did against Liverpool,” said Plymouth manager Steven Schumacher. “Every match is a chance to write our own story.”
Three more high-profile matches follow on Sunday, including Newcastle United against Brighton and Manchester United meeting Fulham. The fifth-round weekend culminates with Nottingham Forest taking on Ipswich Town on Monday.
The quarter-final matches are scheduled for the weekend of Saturday, March 29, while the semi-finals will occur at Wembley on the weekend of April 26. The highly anticipated final is set for Saturday, May 17, 2025.
