Published

The Katsina State Police have taken action by enforcing a strict curfew following recent protests that turned violent in some areas. A 24-hour curfew has been put in place specifically for the Dutsinma Local Government Area, while other parts of the state will see movement restricted from 7 PM to 7 AM.

According to Abubakar Sadiq, the Police Public Relations Officer, these measures aim to maintain public safety and prevent any further violence or destruction of property. The police stated that the recent protests, which began on Thursday, led to some chaos, although thankfully, there were no reported fatalities.

Authorities announced that about 50 individuals were arrested during the protests for vandalizing and looting government property, highlighting the severity of the situation.

Sadiq urged parents to keep a close eye on their children and discourage any involvement in unlawful activities. He stressed that young people should avoid being influenced into violent actions.

The police will be conducting regular patrols to ensure that everyone adheres to the curfew, and they warned that anyone found breaking the rules would face strict consequences. They also appealed to the public for cooperation and to stay home during curfew hours to help maintain peace in the community.
