Dalma Galfi Advances to Quarter-Finals at Catalonia Open

BARCELONA, Spain — Dalma Galfi, the 121st-ranked tennis player from Hungary, defeated Australian Kimberly Birrell, the No. 4 seed, 6-2, 6-1 in the Round of 16 at the Catalonia Open on Wednesday.
Galfi’s commanding victory came just a day after she defeated Chinese player Xiyu Wang 6-3, 6-2. The win against Birrell secures her a spot in the quarter-finals, where she will next face the winner of an upcoming match between Russian Kamilla Rakhimova, the No. 8 seed, and Spaniard Guiomar Maristany Zuleta De Reales.
Birrell, who is currently ranked No. 61, reached this stage of the tournament after defeating Canadian Bianca Andreescu in the previous round with a score of 6-2, 6-2.
The Catalonia Open continues to showcase rising talents in tennis, with Galfi’s performance indicating her potential as a strong competitor.
