Her condition required extensive rehabilitation, including relearning to walk and wearing a protective helmet. Derek Hough recounted the uncertainty following her surgery, noting that doctors had doubts about her survival and potential recovery. His relief was palpable when she woke and simply asked, “What happened? Weren’t we just dancing?”
