Dancing With The Stars Dedication Night

The latest episode of the popular dance competition show, “Dancing with the Stars,” featured an emotionally charged “Dedication Night” theme, with the nine remaining couples performing routines inspired by influential figures or institutions in their lives. The ABC broadcast on October 16, 2024, included a special appearance by guest judge Mark Ballas.

One of the standout performances of the evening was delivered by judge Derek Hough and his wife Hayley Erbert, a former “Dancing with the Stars” troupe member. The performance marked Erbert’s return to the stage after undergoing emergency brain surgery last year. The couple danced to an orchestral rendition of Benson Boone‘s “Beautiful Things,” creating a poignant moment for viewers and participants alike.

Derek Hough took to Instagram to share his reflections on the significant performance. “Last night was such a powerful, full-circle moment for us,” he wrote. “To be back in the ballroom, performing together again, feels like an absolute miracle. There were moments when it seemed impossible that we’d ever get back to this place.” He expressed gratitude for the medical professionals and loved ones who supported Hayley’s recovery.

Fans and fellow contestants also shared their support and admiration on social media. One fan wrote, “This absolutely wrecked me, from start of the package to the end of the dance. Her strength is nothing short of inspiring.” Contestant Jason Mraz added in a post, “What a gift this was to watch and to hear about the unwavering love you have for each other was so special.”

In December 2023, Hayley Erbert was hospitalized for cranial hematoma during their “Symphony of Dance” tour stop in Washington D.C. Her condition required extensive rehabilitation, including relearning to walk and wearing a protective helmet. Derek Hough recounted the uncertainty following her surgery, noting that doctors had doubts about her survival and potential recovery. His relief was palpable when she woke and simply asked, “What happened? Weren’t we just dancing?”

The emotional tribute during “Dancing with the Stars” has captured the hearts of many, manifesting Erbert’s strength and resilience, and highlighting the couple’s journey of love and perseverance.
