David Beckham, the renowned former football star and owner of Inter Miami FC, has recently shared his love for a unique Galician delicacy called percebes. In his latest Instagram story update, Beckham treated fans to a glimpse of his dining experience at Barcelona‘s finest seafood restaurant, Botafumeiro.

One particular dish caught everyone’s attention—the percebes. These crustaceans, known as “goose barnacles” or even “Lucifer’s fingers,” have gained a reputation as the world’s most expensive seafood due to their scarcity and the danger involved in retrieving them. A portion of 15-20 percebes can cost approximately £80, and they can reach up to £400 per lb in some cases.

Despite their unconventional appearance—dark, rubbery stems with white, beak-like heads—Beckham expressed his deep appreciation for the delicacy, calling it “one of my favorite things to eat when in season” in Spain. Beckham’s love for percebes can be traced back to his time living in Spain while playing for Real Madrid FC. As a lover of cooking and food, Beckham often shares culinary experiences with his eldest son, Brooklyn, who is himself an aspiring chef and is set to launch a collaboration with UberEats.

Recently, Brooklyn disclosed that he and his father share similar cooking techniques, with fresh pasta being their go-to. Brooklyn’s wife, Nicola, on the other hand, admitted her lack of cooking skills, jokingly stating that she “can’t cook to save her life.” Nonetheless, Brooklyn has taken on the task of teaching her how to make pasta. During the interview, Brooklyn reminisced about his father’s presence in the kitchen during his childhood, revealing their shared passion for cooking, food aromas, and quality family time.
