Iconic pieces from the late rock legend David Bowie‘s personal collection were recently auctioned at Sotheby's, fetching millions in bids.

The highly anticipated event, titled ‘Bowie/Collector,’ showcased over 350 items encompassing art, furniture, photographs, and memorabilia from Bowie’s extraordinary life and career. Enthusiasts and collectors from around the world eagerly participated in this unique opportunity to own a piece of music history.

One of the most sought-after items was a Basquiat painting titled ‘Air Power,’ which sold for a staggering $9.5 million. Bowie’s keen eye for art was evident in his diverse and eclectic collection, spanning from contemporary works to classic pieces.

Fans were thrilled to bid on these personal mementos, resulting in some lyrics selling for impressive amounts. ‘Bombers’ fetched $122,500, while ‘The Jean Genie’ reached a remarkable $87,500. In addition to artwork and memorabilia, the auction included Bowie’s personal instruments. A Gibson guitar that Bowie played on the ‘Reality’ tour sold for $212,500, further cementing his impact on the music industry.
