Deborah Ann Woll Reflects on Joy of Returning to Daredevil Role

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Deborah Ann Woll expressed her excitement returning to her role as Karen Page in Marvel‘s upcoming Disney+ series, “Daredevil: Born Again.” The actress shared her feelings of joy and nostalgia as filming commenced on the project, which is set to continue the story from the previously canceled Netflix series.
Woll, alongside co-star Elden Henson, was initially not slated to reprieve their roles in the revived series. However, following a significant creative overhaul of “Born Again,” Marvel Studios reintroduced Woll and Henson back into the series, prompting fans to discuss the return of these beloved characters. Photos of the actors, along with Charlie Cox, quickly gained traction online.
Reflecting on her return, Woll recalled a specific scene that resonated with the cast. “We’re just looking at each other. We’re like, ‘Guys! We’re back. We’re here again. Can you believe it?'” Woll shared, emphasizing the thrill of reuniting with her castmates. “The joy, the absolute joy… I’m having good tinglies just thinking about it.”
The actress commented on her concerns about returning to a role she last portrayed in Netflix’s “The Punisher” in 2019. Woll noted, “Sometimes when you’ve been away from a role for a while and you return to it, it can feel a bit like you’re doing an impression of yourself. I was worried about that, but I think because the three of us have such an easy give-and-take, that allowed it to be very natural and fall right into place.”
The revival series has ignited anticipation among fans, especially after a new trailer hinted at the show’s darker themes. In January, Charlie Cox, who reprises his role as Matt Murdock, expressed his enthusiasm about the show’s direction that allowed for the return of Woll and Henson. Cox remarked, “Without them, nothing that Matt does really has any emotional impact. The humanity and vulnerability that they brought to those characters allows me as Matt to really delve into the darkness.”
While detailed plot points for “Daredevil: Born Again” remain undisclosed, it has been confirmed to draw inspiration from the comics. Vincent D’Onofrio will also reprise his role as Wilson Fisk, hinting at a more expansive and intense portrayal in the MCU. D’Onofrio teased that the new version of Kingpin will be “bigger and crazier” than his comic book counterpart.
The first two episodes of “Daredevil: Born Again” are scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on March 4, 2025, as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 5.
