Derek Hough Wins Sexiest 40-Year-Old, Sister Shaves Her Head

LOS ANGELES, CA — Derek Hough has officially won the title of ‘Sexiest 40-Year-Old’ in PEOPLE‘s 2025 Reader’s Choice Poll. The announcement came during the Halloween episode of Dancing with the Stars on October 28, where his sister Julianne Hough humorously embraced his challenge.

Julianne, 37, posted photos of herself with a bald cap on social media, poking fun at her brother’s pledge to shave his head if he won. ‘Someone had to do it… 😜,’ she captioned the photos. She added a comment saying, ‘My head’s cold.’

Derek, 40, initially shared his surprise at winning and considered shaving his head as promised. On the show, host Alfonso Ribeiro teased him with clippers, prompting laughs from the audience. Derek jokingly mouthed, ‘No way,’ in response to the shaving suggestion.

After winning, Derek expressed mixed feelings about the head shave during an Instagram Story. He asked fans to vote on whether he should go through with it, stating: ‘Should I shave it?’ His wife Hayley Erbert also encouraged him, but Derek quipped, ‘I’m not David Beckham, yo.’

In addition to Hough’s win, the Dancing with the Stars judges were abuzz about their spookiest Halloween episode yet, where contestants showcased their best costumes. Hough has been a judge on the show since 2020.

This year, over 350,000 votes were cast in PEOPLE’s annual sexiest man poll, making it a highly competitive event.
