DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Police Department is investigating a shots fired incident in the Indianola Hills neighborhood. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon, May 19, shortly before 3 p.m.

Multiple 911 callers reported gunfire in the parking lot of a gas station located in the 3200 block of SE 14th Street. According to police, one caller indicated that two individuals exchanged gunfire and then fled the scene.

Officers arrived and found evidence of gunfire at the location, but they did not confirm any injuries from the shooting. Police have stated that there is no ongoing danger to the community.

Sgt. Paul Parizek of the Des Moines Police Department confirmed the details in a news release. Investigators have not yet identified the suspects involved but continue to examine the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to contact them.
