MS Dhoni’s Stunning Run-Out Leaves IPL Fans in Awe

Chennai, India — In a thrilling encounter during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Chennai Super Kings‘ MS Dhoni produced a sensational run-out that left fans and cricket experts astounded. This stunning moment occurred on the second ball of the final over against the Lucknow Super Giants on Monday.
Dhoni, who was stationed behind the stumps, showcased his remarkable agility and precision as he executed an underarm throw to hit the stumps at the non-striker’s end, dismissing Abdul Samad in a crucial moment of the match.
The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), led by skipper Rishabh Pant, managed to post a total of 166 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Pant finally found form after a challenging start to the tournament, scoring 63 runs from 49 balls, which included four boundaries and four sixes.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, LSG struggled initially. They lost their opening batsman early when CSK’s bowler claimed a brilliant diving catch, leaving the team 23 for 2 after just four overs.
Despite the shaky start, Pant and his batting partner, Mitchell Marsh, began to rebuild the innings. They showcased their skills against the CSK pacers, and the partnership flourished as they crossed the 50-run mark in just 6.3 overs.
However, CSK’s bowling attack proved to be a significant hurdle for LSG. Jadeja managed to dismiss Marsh, who scored 30 runs off 25 balls, leading the team to 73 for 3 after 9.3 overs. At the halfway mark, LSG stood at 78 for 3.
Pant continued to anchor the innings. He hit impressive shots, including a reverse scoop for six, while Badoni provided additional support by hitting two consecutive sixes. Despite the pressure, Pant reached his fifty, achieving the milestone in 42 balls.
LSG reached 100 runs in 12.3 overs, but Dhoni’s quick reflexes brought an end to Badoni’s innings when he was stumped for 22 runs in 17 balls. As the innings progressed, Pant’s powerful hitting in the later overs helped LSG race past 150 runs with two overs still remaining.
The final over saw CSK turn things around slightly, as they managed to run out Samad, who had scored 20 runs quickly. In the final moments of the match, Dhoni also caught Pant, marking a significant end to LSG’s innings and securing their total at 166 runs.
CSK’s bowling figures were led by Jadeja, who took two wickets for 24 runs, while Pathirana, Kamboj, and Ahmed each contributed with a wicket.
This match stands as a testament to Dhoni’s skill and experience, reinforcing his legacy in the IPL as a clutch player capable of producing magic in critical moments.
