The DiEM25 political movement has officially announced the results of its 2024 Coordinating Collective (CC) elections. The outcome has filled seven leadership positions, reflecting the organization’s dedication to addressing crucial issues such as migration, environmental challenges, technological sovereignty, and gender equality. The election, held in September, marks a significant step in guiding DiEM25’s efforts in the upcoming year.
Among the newly appointed members, there is a shared commitment to continue and strengthen the impact of DiEM25’s work throughout Europe and beyond. Several appointees, who served in previous capacities, expressed their desire to utilize their experience to further the cause, acknowledging the importance of this moment for both Europe and the world.
“Having served the last term as part of the CC, I am eager to contribute further and help the movement grow stronger,” one of the appointees stated, emphasizing the critical period Europe faces.
Other newly elected members voiced their dedication to the struggle for justice, peace, and a peaceful future, envisioning DiEM25 as a uniting force in this endeavor. The emphasis on grassroots movements as a channel for significant change was also highlighted, alongside a desire for structured approaches that translate ambition into impactful actions.
One member from a developing nation expressed the importance of a group with strong anti-imperialist values on the European left, demonstrating the diverse perspectives within the collective. Professional skills and political activism were cited as valuable contributions toward coordinating DiEM25’s objectives in the coming years.
The aspirational vision of a democratic, inclusive, and socially just Europe remains central to DiEM25’s hopes of tackling transnational challenges. Members underscore their commitment to amplifying the movement’s influence on European policies.
As DiEM25 continues its mission, the involvement of individuals across Europe stands as vital support for the movement’s growth towards democratizing Europe and implementing a Green New Deal, with the backing of small donations from its supporters.
