Disneyland Magic Key Passes Go on Sale Jan. 22 Amid High Demand
ANAHEIM, Calif. — Disneyland Resort’s coveted Magic Key annual passes will go on sale Jan. 22, giving theme park enthusiasts six days to prepare for the limited-time opportunity. The passes, which allow multiple visits to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, are highly sought after and often sell out within hours.
The Magic Key program offers four tiers of passes, each with varying benefits, blackout dates, and pricing. The Inspire Key, priced at $1,749, provides the most flexibility with minimal blackout dates and significant discounts on parking, dining, and merchandise. The Imagine Key, available exclusively to Southern California residents for $599, is the most affordable option but comes with stricter blackout dates and fewer perks.
“If you’re someone who visits Disneyland several times a year, the pass can pay for itself quickly in ticket savings alone,” said Sally French, a travel rewards expert at NerdWallet. “Add in the parking, dining, and merchandise discounts, and the pass becomes even more valuable.”
To maximize savings, passholders can combine Magic Key discounts with travel rewards credit cards or discounted Disney gift cards. For example, using the Chase Sapphire Reserve® card for dining purchases can yield additional travel rewards, while purchasing Disney gift cards at Target with a RedCard offers an extra 5% discount.
However, the Magic Key program may not be suitable for everyone. Blackout dates and additional costs, such as parking fees, can limit the value for infrequent visitors. “Even with the 25% parking discount, theme park parking at Disneyland will still cost $26 per visit,” French noted.
Disneyland Resort has also unveiled several new attractions and updates for 2025, including Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, a reimagined version of Splash Mountain, and expanded areas around the Haunted Mansion. Downtown Disney has added new themed shops and restaurants, such as Avengers Reserve and Din Tai Fung, to enhance the guest experience.
For those planning to purchase a Magic Key pass, experts recommend logging into the Disneyland website early on Jan. 22, as the online queue opens at 8:45 a.m. PT. Passes typically sell out quickly, so having a preferred tier and a backup plan is crucial.
