DJI Raises Osmo Pocket 3 Prices by $280 in Two Months

SHENZHEN, China — DJI has significantly increased the price of its popular Osmo Pocket 3 camera, raising it from $519 to $799 in the U.S. over just two months, which represents a $280 increase or 54 percent hike.
The initial price rise from $519 to $619 occurred in April, but the recent adjustment has caught the attention of both consumers and retailers, prompting widespread discussions about the reasons behind these dramatic changes.
“The price you saw today is the current price,” said DJI spokesperson Daisy Kong in a statement. She noted that U.S. retailers have already updated their listings to reflect the new price.
DJI also increased the price of its “Creator Combo,” which includes additional accessories. This kit is now listed at $979, an increase from its original price of $669.
The company attributes part of the price rises to tariffs. “Tariffs are certainly among the key considerations,” DJI said, although they did not clarify if other factors were also playing a role. However, sales momentum appears unshaken despite the price hikes, as the Osmo Pocket 3 remains a top seller for DJI.
The camera has gained a following since its launch in 2023, thanks largely to positive word-of-mouth endorsements from content creators and everyday users. “We attribute the product’s success largely to word-of-mouth recommendations,” DJI said in a statement to The Verge.
Currently, the Osmo Pocket 3 is hard to find in stock at U.S. retailers, leading to concerns that supply shortages will further hinder availability. The situation is compounded by existing tariffs that have disrupted DJI’s ability to import products into the U.S.
Despite the challenges, DJI stated, “We remain committed to the U.S. market and are actively working to ensure products are accessible to our customers soon.” Customers have reported alternative purchasing options, such as having the Osmo Pocket 3 shipped from Amazon Germany for approximately $726.92, including estimated tariff fees, but the warranty on such purchases might not be guaranteed.
As DJI navigates these challenges, the increasing costs and limited availability of its drones and cameras have left creators and consumers seeking alternatives. The impact of tariffs on pricing strategies illuminates the broader effects of trade relations on technology markets.
