Dodgers Prepare for Weekend Series Against Struggling Angels

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The Los Angeles Dodgers are set to face the Anaheim Angels in a weekend series starting Friday night at Dodger Stadium. The Angels arrive in Los Angeles at the bottom of the American League West, having lost 13 of their last 18 games, including a rough stretch of 11 losses in their last 12 road games.
The Dodgers will send pitcher Dustin May to the mound for the series opener, while right-hander Jack Kochanowicz will take the ball for the Angels. Historically, the Angels lead the all-time regular season interleague series against the Dodgers 75-73.
Despite this, the Dodgers have posted a solid .568 winning percentage (42-32) in interleague games at home. The Dodgers have also dominated recent matchups against the Angels, winning 10 of the last 12 meetings since 2020.
In Thursday night’s series finale against the Oakland Athletics, the Dodgers expected to employ a bullpen game due to rookie Roki Sasaki‘s right shoulder impingement. Manager Dave Roberts stated that several pitchers will be ready to step in for the game.
Matt Sauer, who has had a strong season with Triple-A Oklahoma City, is expected to play a major role in the bullpen game. Sauer has pitched effectively in various outings, including several extended appearances. Right-hander Osvaldo Bido will start for the A’s, coming off a consistent season with a 4.75 ERA. Bido has faced the Dodgers in prior seasons, showing resilience on the mound.
