Dominican Republic Aims for First Win in Gold Cup against Costa Rica

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – Marcelo Neveleff, head coach of the Dominican Republic’s national soccer team, has announced the starting eleven for their second match in the 2025 Gold Cup against Costa Rica.
The Dominican team, currently with a record of 0-1, will face Costa Rica, who holds a record of 1-0. Neveleff has decided to keep Xavier Valdez as the goalkeeper. Noah Dollenmeyer, Joao Urbáez, and Edgar Pujol will serve as the primary defenders.
Midfielders Jimmy Kaparos, Pablo Rosario, Heinz Mörschel, Jean Carlos López, and Edarlyn Reyes have also been included in the starting lineup. The forward positions will be filled by Dorny Romero and Peter Federico González.
The Dominican Republic is eager to secure its first victory in the tournament after a challenging debut against Mexico, where they lost 1-0 but managed to exceed expectations by holding the score at a competitive 3-2.
Meanwhile, Costa Rica won their opening match 4-2 against Surinam. A loss for the Dominican Republic could mean elimination from the group stage, while a draw or win would keep their hopes alive for the final match against Surinam on June 22.
