Dominik Mysterio to Defend Title Against Penta at Backlash This Saturday

ST. LOUIS, Missouri – Dominik Mysterio, the WWE Intercontinental Champion, will defend his title against Penta at Backlash on May 10. The match comes after Mysterio’s recent victory over Penta, thanks to a distraction from Carlito.

The rivalry between Mysterio and Penta has heated up since their previous encounter at WrestleMania 41, where Mysterio won the title in a chaotic fatal four-way match. The announcement of the rematch was made during Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, as Mysterio expressed his displeasure backstage.

This will be Mysterio’s second title defense since he won the championship from Breakker in Las Vegas. The Backlash event also includes other high-profile matches. Notably, the Women’s Intercontinental Championship will feature champion Lyra Valkyria against Becky Lynch, while Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena will defend his title against Randy Orton.

Furthermore, Jacob Fatu is set to defend the United States Championship in a fatal four-way match against Damian Priest, Drew McIntyre, and LA Knight. Former World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER will face “Raw” commentator Pat McAfee. The pre-show for Backlash begins at 5 p.m. Eastern, with the main event starting at 7 p.m. Eastern.

Mysterio has shared in the past that he suffered a punctured lung during a match, which affected his career and kept him inactive until October of the same year. He still experiences issues related to that injury.
