Donald Trump’s Inauguration Date and Transition Plans
Following an election season that rocked the country, former President Donald Trump is slated to return to the White House to become the next president of the United States. With his 312 electoral college votes set to be certified on Jan. 6, 2025, many are wondering what to expect for the coming weeks and first days of Trump’s presidency.
A peaceful transition of power is set to begin with the president-elect’s Inauguration Day on Jan. 25, 2025. However, Trump will officially take office on Jan. 20, 2025.
During this transition period, Trump will be building his team of cabinet members and department heads to be approved by the appropriate legislative bodies. Updates to the former president’s pending lawsuits are also expected, with some expected to be dropped entirely.
Once Trump officially takes office, many will be looking towards him to begin instilling the Day 1 policies that he promised throughout his campaign. This includes drastic immigration changes, reform within the federal government through the firing of those he believes are against him, and the rolling back of certain policies pushed by the Biden administration.
The biggest thing to watch within the first few months of Trump’s presidency is the confirmation of his cabinet. Trump has already begun announcing and naming picks for his cabinet. Some standout picks include Pete Hegseth as the next defense secretary and Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy leading the “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE).
