KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Former Kansas City Chiefs punter Dustin Colquitt has signed a one-day contract to officially retire as a member of the organization. Colquitt announced his retirement on June 4, 2025, through an emotional Instagram post, marking the end of a 15-year career with the Chiefs.

Colquitt, who played for Kansas City from 2005 to 2020, expressed his gratitude in the Instagram post, saying, “I have enjoyed my time in Chiefs Kingdom. All things come to an end, sometimes sooner than you would hoped or prayed for them to.” He reflected on his first experiences at Arrowhead Stadium and the support from the fans.

During his time in Kansas City, Colquitt was a key player on the team, being named a Pro Bowl selection twice and earning a Super Bowl championship in 2019. He also holds several franchise records, including the most games played at 238 and a career punting average of 44.8 yards.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and special teams coordinator Dave Toub were present as Colquitt signed his final NFL contract. The Chiefs celebrated Colquitt’s achievements on their social media channels, congratulating him on a well-deserved retirement.

Throughout his career, Colquitt was more than just a punter; he was also recognized for his community service, earning three nominations for the NFL’s Walter Payton Man of the Year Award for his work that provided nearly 50,000 children with free dental care.

Colquitt’s journey may have taken him to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Atlanta Falcons after leaving the Chiefs, but he will always be remembered for his impactful presence in Kansas City. His retirement marks the end of an era for a player who made a lasting impression on both the field and the community.
