Eagles, Dallas Goedert Closing in on Contract Agreement

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — The Philadelphia Eagles and tight end Dallas Goedert are reportedly making significant progress towards a new contract, securing the veteran’s future with the team. Negotiations intensified following the recent NFL draft, where the Eagles opted not to trade Goedert or select a tight end.
Sources indicate that the discussions surrounding a reworked contract may lead to Goedert remaining in Philadelphia. The 30-year-old has been actively participating in workouts at the NovaCare Complex.
“Dallas is a heck of a player — a heck of a player, a heck of a person,” Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said. “I have so much respect for him. We’ve been to two Super Bowls together and obviously would love him on this team.”
Goedert is currently set to earn $14.25 million in the final year of a four-year, $57 million extension signed in November 2021. With the contract’s value not guaranteed, the Eagles considered trade options, but no deal materialized after they failed to draft a tight end.
In March, the Eagles signed free agents Harrison Bryant and Kylen Granson, providing depth at the position rather than seeking a starter capable of replacing Goedert.
Last season, Goedert played in ten games, recording 42 receptions for 496 yards and two touchdowns. He led the Eagles with 17 catches for 215 yards during the postseason, showcasing his importance to the team’s offense.
Despite injury challenges over the past four years, Goedert is recognized as one of the top dual-threat tight ends in the league. As the Eagles look to the future, maintaining Goedert appears to align with their strategy.
As negotiations appear to head toward a positive conclusion, the Eagles look forward to keeping Goedert, who is set to be an integral part of their offense moving forward.
