Eastern Michigan Athletics Readies for Thrilling Sports Week
YPSILANTI, Mich. — Eastern Michigan University‘s athletics department is gearing up for a high-energy week of competitions as February reaches its midpoint. With a mix of basketball, track & field, baseball, and other sports on the schedule, EMU athletes are poised to deliver action-packed performances both at home and on the road.
The men’s basketball team will kick things off on February 11, traveling to Muncie, Indiana, to face Ball State in a crucial Mid-American Conference (MAC) matchup. The game is set for 7 p.m. and holds significant implications for both teams as they strive to improve their standings in the conference.
On February 14, the men’s and women’s track & field teams will participate in the prestigious GVSU Big Meet at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. This day-long event attracts top athletes from across the region, and the EMU Eagles are eager to showcase their speed and skill among fierce competition.
Meanwhile, the baseball team will officially start its season on February 14 with a non-conference game against Pittsburgh in Port Charlotte, Florida, at 1 p.m. The Eagles aim to set a positive tone for the upcoming season with a strong performance against the Panthers.
In Cleveland, the women’s tennis team will compete against Cleveland State on February 14 at 2 p.m. This non-conference match serves as a test of the Eagles’ skills as they prepare for an ambitious season ahead.
Later on February 14, the gymnastics team will face Central Michigan in Mount Pleasant at 6 p.m. Fans can expect to see impressive routines as the Eagles look to maintain momentum during their robust season.

Back in Ypsilanti, the women’s basketball team will host Ball State at 1 p.m. on February 15. With strong fan support anticipated, the Eagles are determined to defend their home court and stay competitive for the MAC title.
Following this matchup, the men’s basketball team will take on Toledo at 3:30 p.m. in another important contest, as both teams are vying for postseason spots with the season’s end fast approaching.
On February 15, the baseball team will have a chance to secure another win against Pittsburgh with a 1 p.m. game as part of a back-to-back series in Port Charlotte. The Eagles are keen to capitalize on this early-season opportunity.
