The Edmonton Oilers have made a significant move in their roster by acquiring forward Matt Savoie from the Buffalo Sabres. In exchange, the Oilers sent forwards Ryan McLeod and Tyler Tullio to Buffalo in a trade deal that has caught the attention of NHL fans.

Matt Savoie, a talented 20-year-old, was Buffalo’s ninth overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft. Hailing from St. Albert, Savoie brings a strong presence and skillset to the Oilers lineup, adding depth and versatility to their forward corps.

Having made his rookie debut with the Sabres in November, Savoie showcased his potential in the NHL. He also had a brief stint with the Sabres’ AHL affiliate in Rochester, where he notched two goals and three assists in six games, displaying his scoring ability and playmaking acumen.

Prior to his professional career, Savoie built an impressive resume in the WHL, playing for teams like the Winnipeg Ice, Wenatchee Wild, and Moose Jaw Warriors. Across 283 games in the WHL, he accumulated 263 points through 103 goals and 160 assists, showcasing his offensive prowess and consistency on the ice.
