Edmonton Oilers Extend Win Streak to 12 Games Against Seattle Kraken
The Edmonton Oilers put their 11-game win streak on the line against their Pacific Division rival, the Seattle Kraken, on Thursday night. In a game that saw numerous power play opportunities and an exceptional performance from goaltender Stuart Skinner, the Oilers managed to extend their winning streak to 12 games, tying the record set by the 1967-68 Montreal Canadiens.
The Oilers started the game with a territorial advantage but found themselves down 2-0 after giving up three Grade “A” breakaways. However, they quickly turned the tide with three goals in a span of 7 minutes and 1 second in the second period, taking a 3-2 lead. From there, they held off the Kraken’s offensive onslaught and sealed the victory with a final score of 3-2.
Stuart Skinner stood tall in net for the Oilers, making several key saves throughout the game. He turned away 25 of 27 shots, but his performance was even better than the numbers suggest.
Connor McDavid, despite a questionable slashing call that went against him, made his presence felt on the ice. He drew penalties, set up scoring chances, and extended his point streak to 12 games with an assist on Zach Hyman‘s goal.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Zach Hyman also played significant roles in the Oilers’ victory. Nugent-Hopkins contributed with an assist, while Hyman scored a crucial power play goal.
On the defensive end, Darnell Nurse and Cody Ceci had solid performances, helping to shut down the Kraken’s offensive attacks. Leon Draisaitl was the standout player of the night, displaying both offensive and defensive prowess. He scored a goal, set up two others, and had an overall exceptional two-way performance.
For the Kraken, Evander Kane had a strong game, providing offensive pressure and contributing with an assist on Seattle’s second goal. Warren Foegele was also a key player for the Oilers, scoring two goals and showcasing his offensive skills alongside Draisaitl.
The Oilers now have 12 consecutive wins under their belt, tying the franchise record. They will undoubtedly be looking to continue their winning streak in their upcoming games.
